Technology Services Manager

The Technology Services Manager is an integral part of our leadership team, serving as the main point person for Technology Services. This individual will be responsible for setting the pace and direction for the newly created Technology Services department and assessing the current staffing model, workflow, programs, and services to create a plan of service responsive to the library’s robust strategic plan. 

The Technology Services Manager should be accustomed to working with staff and patrons from diverse backgrounds and committed to supporting the Downers Grove Public Library with its equity, diversity, and inclusion work.

We are looking for a successful candidate who will:

• Direct and evaluate the plan of service, workflow, policies and procedures, and personnel of the department;

• Oversee department staff and public technology, including computers, audio-visual, and maker equipment;

• Oversee computer help desk operations and patron services related to computers and maker technology;

• Handle the business and financial affairs of the department; and

• Operate as a resource and advisor for the management team on emerging issues and trends concerning technology and maker services.

Qualifications:

• Expertise typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related information technology field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Three years of relevant library and management experience

• Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and other computer and maker software, tools, and programs

• Experience using ILS software preferred

This year-round, full-time position serves as the person in charge of the Technology Services Department. Annual salary is between $68,223 and $81,026, depending on qualifications. Benefits include vacation leave, personal leave, and sick leave, a generous insurance package, and enrollment in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension system.

The typical schedule for the Technology Services Manager will be normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in combination with frequent evening and weekend work.
