BiblioTemps® is an employment service of the Massachusetts Library System that provides experienced library workers for temporary placements in public, academic, and special libraries throughout Massachusetts.

**Title: **               Technical Services Assistant Location:         Worcester Polytechnic Institute, George C. Gordon Library

Position Type: Temporary Start date:       March 26, 2025 End date:         August 31, 2025

**Schedule:    **    No more than 20 hours a week.  Schedule hours flexible between Monday – Friday, 8AM – 4PM.

Pay Rate:        $24.00 per hour **CORI:  **             NO    

Description: The Technical Services Assistant will assist the staff at WPI’s Gordon Library in De-selection and collections analysis support: including the withdrawal of print materials from library collections and cataloging records (in Ex Libris/Alma) as well as from OCLC holdings. They will run standard reports from the library’s ILS (Ex Libris/Alma) to support collection withdrawal projects and maintain spreadsheets related to those withdrawal projects.

Responsibilities: •  Oversee packaging and/or carting of withdrawn items for shipment or removal •  Order individual print and electronic books, audiovisual materials, and other items requested by faculty, students, and library staff and approved by the Associate Director •  Create purchase orders using Ex Libris/Alma integrated library system tools based on metadata provided by vendors; verify that vendor information transfers correctly; create purchase orders manually when needed •  Receive ordered items and create invoices from vendor supplied data; verify prices •  Complete copy cataloging and end processing of added materials •  Provide e-resources support including link checking; and other tasks related to e-resources management and discovery tools

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities: •  At least 1 year of experience in cataloging/technical services. •  Experience working with Library Management System - Alma

Qualifications: •  A bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university. MLIS Students encouraged to apply.
