Job Description:

The KCU Library seeks a highly motivated research and writing support professional to provide individual and group information services in medicine, dental, psychology, biosciences, and other health sciences programs. This professional will help develop a Writing Center and meet the information needs of the research and academic communities.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide resources, training, and research support in biomedical and health resources to the departments and programs on the Kansas City and Joplin campuses at KCU
  • Deliver writing support and reference consultations tailored to the needs of students in Osteopathic Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Dental Medicine, and Biomedical Sciences programs
  • Take a pivotal role in the establishment of a KCU Writing Center
  • Participate as a member of the KCU Library team
  • Offer individual and group information services to meet scientific information needs
  • Conduct presentations and instructional sessions on relevant topics


Preferred Qualifications:
  • ALA-accredited MLS (Master of Library Science)
  • Minimum of two years of research support experience in an academic, clinical, or public health setting
  • Experience in teaching, particularly in writing
  • Proficiency in the use of health sciences and clinical information resources
  • Excellent presentation and instruction skills
  • Proficiency in relevant information technologies, information management tools, and analytical and searching techniques
  • BA in English, Journalism, or a similar major is preferred
  • Excellent computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office
