Description

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of part-time Librarian in Children and Teen Services with an energetic and highly motivated individual who possesses excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with teens in a fast-paced full-service library environment. Key responsibilities include presenting storytimes, staffing the information desk, supervising volunteers, creating new and innovative programs for middle and high school students, using state-of-the-art technology to develop library content, and selecting interesting and relevant titles for the collection. Special projects may include working on plans for a new branch library and community center in north Sunnyvale and expanding the library’s community engagement and outreach activities.

The Children and Teen Services Librarian works under the direction of the Supervising Librarian and other management staff in a team-oriented and forward-thinking environment.

For the Librarian Classification, the City of Sunnyvale:

  • Provides comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits;
  • Contributes 4% of the 7% employee contribution to CalPERS for classic members, and provides retiree medical benefits.

Requirements

The minimum qualification for education and experience can be met in the following way:

  • A Masters degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited program.
