Job Description The Library Computer Lab Technician supports library operations by assisting patrons with scanners, computers, sign-in procedures, applications, Canvas, library databases, reading lists, Wepa printers, and internet access. The technician monitors equipment for damage, tampering, or loss, ensuring copyright notices are present on all duplicating equipment

Responsibilities:

  • Performs work in the support of the library providing patron assistance in the use of scanners, computers, sign-in procedures, applications, Canvas, library databases, reading list (formally e-reserves), Wepa printers, internet access, etc.
  • Monitors library equipment for damage, tampering, or loss; ensure copyright notice is on every piece of duplicating equipment.
  • Performs minor troubleshooting on computer lab equipment; reports to key personnel.
  • Reports major hardware and software problems through Information Technology Department ticketing system; reports to key personnel.
  • Assists AT/IT with installation and upkeep of software and computer technology; places "out of order signs" on sections that are being updated.
  • Position provides friendly and efficient basic library services to patrons at the circulation desk.
  • Provides printer maintenance including toner installation, printer troubleshooting, printer settings adjustment, paper jam removals, toner cartridge installation and reloading paper trays, etc.
  • Assists with data input, link checks, views or click reports for the e-reserves spreadsheet, as well as performing OCR on items.Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of related experience in IT or equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree and/or training in computer science.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong customer service experience and communication skills.
  • Provides prompt, attentive, and friendly customer service in person, by phone, or virtually.
  • Must be dependable and have ability to professionally interact with patrons.
  • Must have strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems required.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position Hours: This is a part-time, non-exempt position; must be available to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Hours will be dependent on library needs.
