MCNEESE STATE UNIVERSITY invites applicants to apply for the position of Circulation Supervisor in the Frazar Memorial Library. This is a full-time, 12-month, unclassified position. The appointment is available immediately.

**POSITION NUMBER: **U99168

**SALARY RANGE: **$35,000 - $40,000

**POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: **Under the general supervision of the department head, the Circulation Supervisor supports the Public Services department in the following areas: customer service, operations management, staff supervision/training, and record-keeping/data management. This is a Public Services position and includes active and routine contact with McNeese students, faculty, and staff; Friends of the Library, LOUIS Reciprocal Borrowing card holders, and other visitors from the community.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

· Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student employees from multiple library departments

· Provides continual training in circulation policies to all Public Services employees as needed

· Manages employee scheduling and staffing for the entire Public Services department

Administrative responsibilities

· Oversees daily circulation operations (e.g. material borrowing/returns, stacks maintenance, etc.) 

· Participates in circulation and reference operations at Public Services desk

· Creates, maintains, and updates records of all materials placed on reserve by faculty and staff

· Communicates and educates library users about library services and policies

· Collects documentation and statistics on departmental services

· Maintains internal documents related to student and departmental records

· Greets patrons and answers questions via in-person, telephone, or email

· Monitors the Circulation email account and promptly provides requested information and assistance.

· Manages faculty reserve materials by creating, maintaining, and updating records

· Has knowledge of the operational policies and procedures for the circulation of library materials

· Registers special student population groups into WorkFlows

· Develops training materials to support Public Services functions

· Performs other tasks as assigned by the department head or library director

· Participates in rotating evening/weekend shifts as well as irregular shifts related to university needs

Fiscal Responsibilities

· Manages long-term overdue materials and billing processes

· Maintains copy machine deposits and petty cash quarterly and end-of-year reporting

Technical Responsibilities

· Oversees circulation operations using the Library ILS (Symphony WorkFlows)

    1. Updates the User and Item databases as needed
    2. Manages student transcript hold processes
    3. Recalls overdue materials and notifies patrons of delinquent accounts

· Utilizes Banner system to perform circulation tasks within university’s student information system

· Searches, creates, edits, and retrieves patron records in WORKFLOW database

REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Required**:**

· Associate’s Degree (or higher) with at least 2 years of work experience in a related job

· Demonstrated competency with MS Office products especially Word and Excel

· Excellent time management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities

· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

· A genuine customer service mindset and the desire to serve a diverse community of library users

Preferred**:**

· Bachelor’s Degree (any field)

· Experience working in an academic library

· Supervisory experience

· Experience with an Integrated library system (Symphony Workflows)
