Children's Librarian

Creative and organized individual needed to provide outstanding customer service in a busy public library on the island of Martha's Vineyard. The position performs professional work in planning, implementing and managing a comprehensive program of service to children age 0-12 and families, which includes but is not limited to collection development; planning and executing programs for children and caregivers; reader’s advisory and reference service; and technology instruction.  Full-time (40 hours/week) year-round schedule includes evenings and weekends. Permanent year-round position with full benefits under union contract. EOE.

Qualifications

Requires Bachelor’s Degree with coursework or experience with children's literature, child development, and library services for children. Master’s Degree in Library Science or equivalent preferred.

Salary Notes

Full salary range is $61,616.88 to $77,026.32 in 11 steps. Starting salary is negotiable up to step 3.
