Under the supervision of the Executive Library Director, this position oversees all activities relating to the maintenance, safety and cleaning of the Library's building and grounds. Performs preventative maintenance and maintains records. Manages Custodial staff.

DUTIES FOR THIS POSITION

Schedules and supervises building maintenance staff.  This includes assigning tasks, training, coaching, counseling, and ongoing performance reviews. 

Serves as the liaison with contractors and the City of Wheaton for building and systems maintenance. 

Responsible for minor electrical, structural, and plumbing repairs.

Contacts vendors for HVAC maintenance, landscaping, elevators, plumbing and electrical services, sprinkler system, and fire/security alarm services.  Maintains records pertaining to all maintenance contracts; maintains records of equipment and repair history.

Responsible for meeting room set-ups. 

Snow removal as needed.

Minor landscaping tasks as needed.

Ensures compliance with fire code, OSHA, and other safety regulations.  Adheres to Library's Emergency Response Guide and Disaster Plan.  Orders and monitors janitorial supplies.  Assists with the management of key inventory; manages access to staff and public entrances.  Performs general maintenance and cleaning duties as part of the maintenance team.  Leads equipment and furniture installation as needed. Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends. 

Ability to respond to all building and grounds emergencies. Other duties as assigned.

This position may require working during any of the hours that the Library is open, including evenings and weekends. May occasionally need to work during hours the Library is not open to the public as well. Although a weekly schedule is established, the needs of the Library may require schedule changes and flexibility.
