Youth Services Librarian

Primary Responsibilities

· Plan and implement programs of interest to the community, with a focus on middle grade (4th-6th grade)

· Provide reference and readers’ advisory assistance

· Participate in the collection development process by maintaining budget, selecting, and weeding materials in assigned areas

· Provide instructions on Library’s digital offerings and e-sources to patrons and staff

· Keep current on age appropriate materials for youth

· Create attractive and interesting displays and bibliographies

· Stay current regarding library technology and trends

· All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Master’s in Library Science

· Experience working with children required

· Library experience in Youth Services preferred

· Ability to work with children in an individual and group setting

Salary/Classification/Hours

· $22.95-25.48/hour, depending on qualifications

· Full-time, 37.5 hours/week, non-exempt

· Days, evenings, and weekends

Physical Demands/Work Environment

· The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds
