We are seeking a Technology, Audiovisual, and Events Assistant to join the Learning and Teaching division of U-M Library. This role is part of the Technology, Audiovisual, and Events Service Team, within the Outreach and AV Services department. This department is key in facilitating research, scholarship, and co-curricular engagement across library user, programmatic, and employee spaces. The Technology, AV, and Events Assistant provides service, consultation, and partnership for technology and event needs, both daily and programmatic, in various library environments including on-site, virtual, and hybrid spaces. You will deliver technology and audiovisual support services to library employees, library users, and campus partners across meeting rooms, instruction rooms, event and engagement areas, and other designated spaces.   • Deliver quality in-person and virtual front-line service to library colleagues and users.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and upkeep of technology and other amenities in library meeting rooms, instruction rooms, event spaces, and other spaces.
  • Respond to basic support requests for technology and audiovisual needs in library meeting and instruction rooms, event spaces, engagement spaces, and virtual environments for library colleagues.
  • Assist campus faculty, students, staff, visiting scholars, and guests in utilizing library public technology to meet their teaching and learning needs.
  • Collaborate and consult with library and campus partners to plan and host virtual, on-site, and hybrid events, ensuring best practices, accessibility considerations, and seamless technology integration.
  • Consult with and support instructors from various disciplines on best practices for integrating technology in library teaching environments to meet their learning and teaching goals.
  • Produce, edit, and publish recordings of virtual and hybrid events using non-linear video editing tools for both U-M Library employees and public audiences.
  • Develop and deliver in-person and online technology training, documentation, materials, and instructional signage for library employees and users.
  • Communicate any changes in service, technology, or functionality to library employees that may impact their use of technology or spaces.
  • Escalate advanced, higher-level issues to the Service Lead, Director, campus IT partners, or vendors as directed.
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop immediate workarounds, as well as brainstorm and propose long-term solutions in a collaborative team-based environment.Required Qualifications*

  • High School Graduate or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Two years of experience relevant to position responsibilities.
  • Experience providing high-quality service to a wide range of customers.
  • Experience delivering services related to technology, audiovisual services, or event services in an academic, research, public services, or customer service setting.
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate and consult with a diverse range of customers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of technology trends and enthusiasm to learn and adapt as new technologies and requirements emerge.Work Schedule

40 hours/week; typically Monday - Friday daytime shifts, with an occasional evening shift based on the events schedule. Modes of Work

This position will involve moderate walking between Hatcher-Shapiro and to other campus buildings, as well as moving/transporting equipment and event furniture (below 50 lbs). Application Deadline
