This position will develop and lead a team of committed staff and student employees who provide excellent customer service at the busy Information Desk in our main library. Position Function

Manage and coordinate Access Services and University Libraries' public operations; provide circulation and information services to library users, provide assistance in the use of print and electronic resources, provide library and/or other university related information, and interpret library policies and procedures.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of experience in related area.

Minimum Experience

At least one year of public service experience; over one year of supervision experience.

Minimum Other

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; strong oral and written communication skills.

Authorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Education beyond bachelor's degree in related area.

Preferred Experience

Over one year of library experience and knowledge of printing applications.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ranking: 1 Serve library users at the Library Information Desk; includes providing circulation services, reference assistance, and assistance with basic functions of Microsoft Office and printing applications.
  • Ranking: 2 Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development of personnel.
  • Ranking: 3 Assign and review work, orient and train student employee(s), and make recommendations as to interviewing and selection, performance appraisal, and discipline; includes create work schedules and monitor student wage budgets.
  • Ranking: 4 Investigate and process fine and replacement cost appeals and coordinate cancellation of fines and replacement costs for all circulation sites; provide library and/or university related information and interpret library policies and procedures, including the fine and cost policy .
  • Ranking: 5 Provide administrative support to the Access Services unit; includes compiling reports; ordering supplies; maintaining inventories; assisting in establishing goals, objectives, policies, and programs; maintaining reference books shelving.
  • Ranking: 6 Collaborate on special projects.
  • Ranking: 7 Serve as a resource person for other public-facing units in customer service and basic reference; support a consistent customer service experience for users.
  • Ranking: 8 Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ranking: 9 Maintain regular and predictable attendance as required by this position.
