Description

The Tarlton Law Library at the University of Texas School of Law is seeking to hire a Reference Librarian.  Well-qualified candidates, including candidates who are currently enrolled in a master’s degree program in library or information science, are encouraged to apply.  

Responsibilities
Provide reference service to students and staff of the law school, as well as to the university community at large, members of the bar, and the general public.  Provide research and reference services to law school faculty through the library's liaison program.  Participate in teaching basic and advanced legal research.  Assist in the development of instruction and outreach programs that educate students on legal research strategies and sources.  Participate in the library's orientation programs, conduct tours, and offer instructional sessions. Other related functions as assigned.

This position is eligible for up to one day of remote work per week after successful completion of an initial training period of six months. 

Required Qualifications
A JD from an ABA-accredited law school is required. Candidates must have a master’s degree in Library or Information Science (MLS or equivalent degree) from an accredited program or be enrolled in a MLS (or equivalent) program. Applicants must have a strong service orientation and an interest in innovation. Applicants must have a demonstrated exemplary work record, professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants must have excellent organizational, time-management and analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.

Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience and experience in an academic law library. One or more years of experience practicing law.  

Salary
$90,000/year
