Position Description:

The Town of Truro is inviting qualified applicants to apply for the position of Library Director. Truro’s next Library Director will serve as the organization’s expert and leader in library and information services and work with a high level of autonomy provided by the Town Manager. They will also work collaboratively with other Town departments, Board of Library Trustees, and local partners from the educational and non-profit community to successfully execute the Select Board’s goals and objectives and the strategic vision and policies of the Board of Library Trustees, and to direct the functions of the Library Department. They will be a key member of the Town Administration’s team and involved in various Townwide issues and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited school
  • State Certification from the MA Board of Library Commissioners
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a public library with progressive responsibilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful candidate is forward-thinking, engaging, and is adept at planning and managing a public library
  • Leads participation in the Cape Libraries Automated Materials Sharing (CLAMS) Network and serves as liaison from the library to the Truro Library Board of Directors and the Friends of the Truro Library
  • Working knowledge of outside funding opportunities, collection development, municipal or nonprofit finances
