The St. Louis Mercantile Library is seeking a Transportation Studies Librarian at the level of Librarian II. The Mercantile Library, now in its 177th year, holds historic archival, rare book and manuscript collections in the areas of trans-national as well as American, Missouri and regional histories, westward expansion, American business history, and exemplary transportation holdings in river and rail history as well as a distinguished collection of American and Missouri art. The Mercantile’ s collections form a prestigious historical research center for a wide array of readers.
The Transportation Studies Librarian reports to the McKnight Curator of Transportation Collections. The Transportation Studies Librarian is an essential member of the Mercantile Library’s vibrant and dynamic curatorial team, a highly motivated ensemble that works collaboratively to collect, preserve, and by extension redefine American history for 21st century applications and research. The successful candidate for this position will catalog, organize, arrange, and make a wide array of interdisciplinary materials accessible for modern researchers in-person and world-wide. In support of the head curator of transportation collections, this position performs original and copy-cataloguing of our comprehensive transportation materials in all formats and processes archival and manuscript transportation materials, and will perform other tasks related to collections access and research.

Salary Range This is a non-tenure track faculty, benefit-eligible position at the level of Librarian II in the UMSL Libraries with a salary range between $52,476.08 to $57,000 per year based on experience.
