Teen Outreach & Programming Librarian

We are seeking an innovative and engaging Teen Librarian to connect with high school teens ages 14-19 in the library and in the community to support their ideas, interests, and social and literacy needs. Our Teen Librarian will collaborate with staff and community partners to bring quality outreach, programs, activities, events, and materials to teens and their families. We strive to create experiences and collections that foster lifelong learning, creative exploration, and social connection. 

The Teen Librarian will serve as point person and subject expert for the Adult Services team to provide readers advisory, computer and research assistance, and help in using digital collections and devices to teens and adults and is responsible for collection management of teen library materials.

Special areas of responsibility include outreach to local high schools and other community partners serving teens ages 14-19 and their families; identifying and reviewing potential programs, events, and activities for teens and their families; keeping up with trends and pop culture for teens; coordinating, introducing, and attending teen events; and evaluating their success.  The Teen Librarian collaborates with staff from Adult Services, Youth Services, Makerspace, Branch, and Marketing to plan and coordinate timely and cohesive program offerings. 

Requirements & Skills

• MLIS from an ALA accredited program 
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with area high schools and other community partners, patrons ages 14-19 and their families, and staff
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven skill with public speaking, networking, engaging with the public, and making phone calls
• Experience planning and organizing successful events and programs for a teen audience
• Experience with Communico a plus
