The West Hartford Public Library, located in vibrant and engaged community that celebrates diversity and maintains a welcoming atmosphere to all visitors, seeks an outgoing and enthusiastic Teen Library Specialist who exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for providing services to teens ages 13-18. The preferred candidate will work with intellectually curious, creative and social-minded teens who enjoy gaming, crafting and planning and participating in community service projects. The Teen Library Specialist will plan fresh and inventive programming, visit middle and high schools, lead teen boards and groups, plan book displays and maintain the teen webpage. The candidate may attend meetings with other teen specialists and librarians throughout the state.

This is a part-time position with a regular schedule of 14-18 hours per week including daytime, weekend and evening hours.

Starting salary: $33.80

Minimum Qualifications: B.A. degree in education, social services

Preferred Qualifications: Relevant experience working with teens in a library or other professional setting. Fluency in a language other than English spoken in the community. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of Canva, Instagram, Library Market, Word Press. Experience with Makerspace equipment (Cricut, 3D printing)
