Description

Contributes to the work of monographic original cataloging by applying bibliographic metadata standards and principles to provide inclusive and effective access to library collections.  Demonstrates a commitment to the user experience by keeping abreast of current and emerging standards and by collaborating on team and departmental workflows and projects.

Requirements

Education:
Required:  MLS Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience.

Experience: 
Required: Minimum 3 years experience performing original cataloging; experience cataloging a non-print format (in order of preference: scores, sound recordings, physical or streaming moving images, electronic resources); demonstrated ability to apply the following cataloging tools: Resource Description and Access (RDA), Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), a standard classification scheme, and MARC21 formats for bibliographic and authority records; reading knowledge of one language other than English; evidence of analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; ability to work collegially and collaboratively within and across organizations.
