The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is accepting applications for a dynamic leader to serve as our next School Library System Coordinator. The School Library System Coordinator is responsible for providing library coordination and/or services to member libraries under a School Library System plan of service as approved by the Commissioner of Education. The SLS Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the School Library System including planning, general program management, professional development, cooperative activities, and fiscal management.

The School Library System Coordinator will:

Assume a leadership role and create a vision for the School Library System for the nine component school districts while administering policies and procedures per commissioner regulations and NYS Dept. of Library Development.

Coordinate and provide professional development opportunities to school librarians and other school  personnel aligned  with regional needs.

Represent the School Library System as a liaison with local and statewide committees and agencies including library systems, library resource councils, and NYS Ed Dept., as well as local, state, and national professional organizations. This will include but not limited to school library systems (SCOOLS), South Central Research Library Council, New York State Educational Media Technology Association (EMTA), and Model Schools.

Administer and manage state and CoSer programs (union catalog, inter-library loan, cooperative collection development, library automation, and online resources) services and budgets reflecting members' needs.

Support the development and maintenance of a Media Library to include purchasing and professional development.

Minimum Starting Salary: $85,000

This is a 12 month position

Qualifications:                           

NYS Teacher certification required in School Library Media Specialist with a Master of Library Science.

Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a School Media Library Specialist.  

Must either possess or willing to obtain NYS certification  as a School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) certificate or School Building Leader (SBL) certificate  within a 3 year appointment.
