Saturday Library Assistant

The Saturday Library Assistant provides accurate and high-quality service within the Library at the circulation desk. Essential duties include: Provide positive, courteous service to the public in a team-oriented environment to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction; Assist at the Circulation Desk, including checking materials in and out to patrons, answering the telephone and directing calls, and registering new borrowers; Assist patrons with copier and fax machine; Assist patrons in locating materials in the library and answer patron questions; Handle overdue and billing notices while maintaining the highest level of patron confidentiality; Reserve and distribute museum passes using online software; Handle, process and organize reserve requests and interlibrary loan items; Shelve library materials and maintain proper order in collection by reading shelves; other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Degree from an accredited two or four-year college preferred One or more years of relevant experience within a public library system or customer service environment Experience with internet/browsers, and proficiency in Microsoft Office necessary Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to maintain good public relations and deal with members of the public in a pleasant and courteous manner Ability to prioritize tasks
