Description

The University of Utah James E. Faust Law Library invites applications for the position of Research and Instruction Librarian. This is a full-time tenure track position. Recent graduates, newer librarians, as well as experienced librarians are invited to apply.

Core Duties

  • Participate with other J.D. librarians in teaching two credit hours of Basic Legal Research or Advanced Legal Research to first year law students or second/third year law students.
  • Provide approximately 6-10 hours per week of reference services to library patrons.
  • Manage and participate in the Library Seminar Paper Workshops and the monthly Library Seminar Series.
    Provide individualized and group instruction using a wide range of educational technologies.
  • Manage the student Quinney Fellow research assistants.
  • Participate in the liaison program providing research services to law faculty and training and support to student research fellows.
  • Prepare and maintain research guides.
  • Serve on Law Library/Law School, University of Utah governance, and other professional committees as appropriate.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Engage as a member of the Law Library team and work to further the overall goals of the Law Library.


Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications

J.D. from ABA-accredited law school required; Master’s degree in library and/or information science from ALA-accredited institution preferred. Strong service orientation; excellent oral and written communication; good organizational skills; ability to deal effectively with all library patrons; strong teamwork skills, adaptable to additional responsibilities.
