Responsible for oversight and management of the operations of a library branch in a public library system. Professional and supervisory work in the delivery of outstanding library services that fulfill the mission, values and goals of the Library and the County. Supervision of professional and paraprofessional staff.

Initiates and effectively recommends for approval by the Division Manager, with final approval by the Department Director, personnel actions such as hiring, termination, performance evaluations, disciplinary and/or commendatory action. Plans, designs, and conducts staff development workshops and training programs for professional and support staff. Develops budget for the main library or two branch libraries, plans and monitors budget expenditures. Performs professional and supervisory work in the analysis and oversight of library services. Responsible for the quality of customer service and level of efficiency provided by the library branch; develops reports and administers projects to address service delivery. Supports, promotes, and implements programming presented in the library branch and implements library system-wide marketing plans and initiatives. Establishes and maintains good professional relationships with coworkers, County Departments/Divisions, community partners, and library customers. Provides oversight for the collecting, monitoring, and processing of public funds received by the library branch. Ensures public safety at the main library, or two branch libraries during library hours, and programs. Provides oversight of the library building and grounds, reports facility maintenance needs. Provides oversight and reports deficiencies with public computers and telecommunication equipment.

Education/Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree with five (5) years post master's professional progressively more responsible experience in a public library, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in the public library.

In-depth knowledge of principles and practices of library science; principles and practices of management and supervision; library system organization; methods and techniques used to establish funding for library programs, including budget development, and grant writing.

Knowledge of development of long-range strategic plans; development of goals and objectives.

In-depth knowledge of an online, integrated library operating system, including knowledge of circulation functions, public catalog, and research functions. Proficiency with the current versions of SirsiDynix Symphony and other major ILS vendors is required.

Knowledge on a professional level of recent trends and best practices in library services.

Proficiency with a PC and software at the level necessary to successfully complete the tasks of the job is required. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel is required.

Professional level knowledge of reference services, virtual reference services and databases.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.
