PT Graphic Designer

The Marketing & Communications Services department of the Des Plaines Public Library is seeking a part time Graphic Designer to produce highly creative work from concept to completion to effectively convey library information and brand.

The ideal candidate has exceptional artistic ability, strong graphic design skill using Adobe Cloud and other industry standard design tools, considerable knowledge of commercial and popular trends and ability create for audiences of all ages. They also need a demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize projects under a tight schedule, and communicate productively as part of a team.

This position reports directly to the Head of Marketing and Communications Services and is part of a creative services team that also includes a Creative Services Coordinator, a Digital Designer and a Production Clerk.

Key responsibilities include designing a wide ranges of print and digital materials according to established graphic and branding guidelines. The graphic designer may also assist in designing and installing library displays and other special projects. Excellent customer service and communication required.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.F.A.) from a four-year college or university in graphic arts or related field or three years related experience.

Hours

This part-time position is 20 hours per week. Schedule Monday 9-5, Wednesday 9-5, Friday 9-2:30.

Salary

Non-exempt, range $18.19 - $26.40 per hour, plus paid time off and IMRF pension benefits.
