As a part-time Preschool Programming Associate for Warren-Newport Public Library making between $18-$20 per hour, you'll work an average of 18 hours per week with the schedule being 4 weekday mornings of Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and one weekend shift per month. Weekend hours are Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Sunday hours are from Labor Day to Memorial Day and are paid at time and half).

You will work under the Programming and Engagement Librarian to develop and deliver engaging programs for preschoolers, both at the library and partner sites. You'll foster a love of learning in young children by creating a welcoming environment and leading activities that promote early literacy skills.

Each shift, you'll lead captivating story times for preschoolers, fostering a love of language and early literacy skills. You'll collaborate with the Programming and Engagement Librarian to develop creative and age-appropriate themes and activities. You'll also assist with delivering and supporting a variety of other engaging programs for preschoolers, such as music and movement activities, arts and crafts workshops, or interactive play experiences. This includes:

• planning and preparing all preschool programs

• gathering materials for programs

• setting up the program space (both at the library and partner sites)

• ensuring programs flow smoothly

• help promoting these programs to families with young children

To thrive in this role, you should enjoy and have experience working or volunteering with preschool children in an educational or childcare setting. If you have your Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field, you may qualify for the higher end of the starting salary range.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• The role involves a mix of sitting, standing, and walking.

• Frequent interaction with young children and their caregivers is expected.

• Ability to lift and carry light materials (up to 40 lbs).

• Ability to travel to partner preschools within the community (requires a valid driver's license).
