An ALA -accredited master's degree in librarianship/information science or foreign equivalent, or a terminal degree in a related field.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director for the Miller Learning Center and Student Success, the Student Success Librarian will utilize user needs assessment methods to cultivate welcoming, meaningful, and inclusive connections with students and student groups across campus. They will work collaboratively with co-curricular units and departments on campus to identify and develop sustainable, high-impact initiatives that engage and support student learning. Lead and/or coordinate workshops, programs, and events that support student success that connect students with library expertise, services, collections, and spaces including work with the First Year Odyssey program, First Year Writing Seminars, the Writing Center, and the open textbook initiative. This position will help to plan and coordinate the library's participation in undergraduate orientation activities and actively work to create a sense of belonging for students within the library and on campus. Finally, working collaboratively with members of the Academic Engagement Unit, they will develop and create digital instructional assets to allow for asynchronous support for identified courses or other teaching sessions.
This position will contribute to division services and projects and is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues across all library divisions in service of the library's mission. Since this position will be focused on engaging with students, there will likely be some evening/weekend work required.
Salary ranges from approximately $60,000-$70,000. UGA librarians are non-tenured faculty members. Additional Requirements
Candidates will be considered at the rank of Librarian/Archivist I, II, III , or IV.
- To be considered at the level of Librarian/Archivist II, candidates must have 2 years of professional experience after completion of their master's degree in librarianship/information science, or 2 years of professional experience after completion of their terminal degree in a related field.
- To be considered at the level of Librarian/Archivist III , candidates must have 5 years of professional experience after completion of their master's degree in librarianship/information science, or 5 years of professional experience after completion of their terminal degree in a related field.
- To be considered at the level of Librarian/Archivist IV, candidates must have 10 years of professional experience after completion of their master's degree in librarianship/information science, or 10 years of professional experience after completion of their terminal degree in a related field.

Instruction - Actively engage with faculty to help teach First Year Odyssey courses and First Year Writing seminars about what the library offers, and how to engage with the library spaces and services in support of their course work
- Support experiential learning (e.g., peer-to-peer, hands-on, reflective) and innovative approaches to idea exploration and skill development by empowering students to develop and lead initiatives
- Create multimodal information resources and asynchronous learning activities that contribute relevant content to an instructional toolkit of resources and support a consistent service and learning experience.
- Develop assessment plans to learn about success of programs and ways to enhance them.
Outreach & Engagement Efforts - Establish and execute a plan for regularly engaging with students, student groups, and library/campus partners, utilizing a variety of user experience research methods.
- Lead and/or coordinate workshops, programs, and events that support student success by connecting students with library expertise, collections, services, programs, and spaces (to include several identified programs like First-Year Orientation; Textbook Affordability via OER ; Writing Center and/or Office of Student Success & Achievement initiatives)
- Establish connections with partners, departments, units, and student groups that enhance their understanding of how libraries can meaningfully connect with their core work, mission, and values.
- Develop communication and marketing tactics tailored to primary audiences that promote library initiatives, services, programs, and events.
- Serve on or contribute to library wide teams and taskforces as appropriate
Professional Engagement - Contribute to appropriate library and system-wide committees and working groups.
- Attend professional meetings, workshops and conferences for training and continued professional development.
- Participate in writing grant proposals
