Posting SummaryRutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Metadata Project Assistant for the RUL Schol Comm/Coll Dev.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Assists with providing non-MARC metadata for the RUcore, the Rutgers institutional repository, including electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs).
  • Assists with providing MARC metadata for monographs.
  • Assists with scholarly deposits into the Scholarly Open Access Repository (SOAR) as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours Per Week: 19

FLSA: Nonexempt

Position Salary: $31.84 per hour

Payroll Designation: PeopleSoft

Terms of Appointment: Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in an administrative function.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's of Library Sciences with experience in metadata.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of MARC format and resource description conventions.
  • Familiarity with commonly used resource description tools, including OCLC Connexion, a major integrated library system (Ex Libris' Alma preferred), Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
