Contra Costa County Library is looking for a creative and experienced individual to serve as Media Production Technician. The incumbent will have the responsibility to coordinate and guide the creation of video content including conceptualizing, filming, directing, producing, editing and posting video productions that highlight the Library and its many programs, resources and materials. The individual will excel in project management with the ability to drive the production schedule and deliver finished projects on time.

What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Playing a role in pre-production planning and production of photo shoots and live or pre-recorded video shoots
  • Setting up field and/or studio video or photo shoots
  • Editing and processing video for broadcast, streaming, and various social media platforms
  • Operating a variety of professional level video and photographic tools, including cameras, lighting, and sound equipment
  • Using video editing software to produce videos for the web and copy videos to a variety of formats
  • Taking quality photographs which effectively convey thoughts and concepts through the use of a variety of photographic techniques
  • Creating promotional and informational posts for various social media platforms

Selection Process

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

Minimum Qualifications

License Required: Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator's license. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Successful completion of at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university which included at least 12 semester or 18 quarter units in television/video/media production.

Experience: Three (3) years of full time experience in television/cablecast or relevant video production which included the responsibility for directing and/or performing technical operations, coordination of production activities, and/or operation of video console or allied equipment, including online media and automated playback systems.  

Substitution for Education: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Desirable Experience: At least one (1) year of the required experience be in the production and editing of video programming for Community Media.
