Access Services Department is responsible for the general operation and management of the Zach S. Henderson Library facility. This includes maintenance of collections, maintaining the security of the building including opening and closing, management of library furniture, maintaining the checkout desk, and any other needs of the Access Services Department. This department is the first point of contact for patrons. The Access Services Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the adherence to the mission and strategic plan of the GS Libraries and the Access Services department’s role in support of the mission and strategic plan. Access Services Supervisor provides circulation services to users and supervises staff and student assistants during regularly scheduled shifts. Work schedule based on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver efficient delivery of circulation services to patrons
  • In coordination with Department Head and other Access Services Supervisors, set expectations and standards for exemplary customer service
  • Maintain library records including working with Library Management System, Banner, and other management systems; complete statistical and other reports
  • Resolve patrons’ difficult circulation/ building complaints and problems
  • Manage library furniture including organization and surplus
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Department Head by creating a weekly checkout desk schedule, ordering supplies, and assisting and leading departmental projects
  • Direct, supervise, evaluate, and train Access Services staff and student assistants; interview and participate in selection of new staff and student assistants, develop and monitor weekly work schedules and assignments
  • Coordinate with Department Head and other Access Services Supervisors to develop standards, workflows, and procedures related to circulation and all functions of Access Services, manages behavioral conduct, incident response, and emergency management procedures
  • Lead department staff and student assistants and execute the goals and objectives for fulfilling GS Libraries mission and strategic plan
  • Support library programming, events, and outreach and coordinate department involvement and participation; participate in library committees, attend workshops, webinars, and other learning opportunities
  • Maintain security of the Henderson Library including opening and closing and following all emergency procedures
  • Maintain library collections including but not limited to main stacks, Governor’s Honors Collection, AV & Equipment, ARC, Popular Reading, and GS Authors; load and unload material in ARC and audits ARC bins, inventory library collection

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements

High School Diploma and equivalent Required Experience

Three (3) or more years of related work experience Two (2) years of supervisory experience Proposed Salary $17.13 – $18.26 per hour
