  • The Library Specialist oversees vendor-supplied metadata for print materials. This position manages quality control for MARC metadata and identifies problems within vendor-supplied files. This position is solely responsible for Alma production statistics and forwards quality control-related problems to other staff. The Library Specialist accesses music scores and media and recommends the items for cataloging or outsourcing. This position develops or revises documentation and workflows for efficiency and to meet departmental goals. **Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**Competency using an integrated library system or unified resource management system.
  • Competency using software for editing metadata in batch using Excel, MarcEdit, Open Refine, etc.
  • Competency using OCLC cataloging software.
  • Ability to analyze, solve problems, and organize data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and library personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment in a rapidly changing and culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to meet Core Technology Competencies for Tulane Libraries Employees and utilize other software for duties as defined in local procedures.

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of adaptive or copy cataloging experience in an online environment.OR
  • High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 8 years of adaptive or copy cataloging experience in an online environment.OR
  • High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 8 years of adaptive or copy cataloging experience in an online environment.Preferred Qualifications:
  • Foreign language reading competency in Spanish, French, or Italian.
  • Experience with Alma and Alma Analytics.
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, NACO authority control or other identity management initiatives (ex. VIAF, Orcid).
  • Ability to read and understand music scores and multiple music clefs.
