RSU 40 is seeking a dynamic and innovative Pre-K through 12 Library Media Specialist to oversee and coordinate library services across our seven school libraries. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering literacy, information literacy, and digital citizenship while supporting curriculum integration and student learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate library operations across seven school libraries
  • Develop and maintain library collections that support curriculum and student interests
  • Implement and oversee district-wide library policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into curriculum
  • Provide instruction on information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship
  • Manage library budgets and resources efficiently
  • Train and supervise library staff and volunteers
  • Implement and maintain library management systems
  • Promote reading and literacy initiatives across the district
  • Stay current with educational technology and library trends

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Library Science or related field
  • Valid Maine Department of Education Library Media Specialist certification
  • 3+ years of experience in school library settings
  • Strong knowledge of children's and young adult literature
  • Proficiency with library management systems and educational technology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and multitasking ability
