Library Director

Sunshine Hall Free Library (Eldred, NY), nestled in picturesque Sullivan County, is seeking a library director. We serve a population of 4,449 residents as well as numerous summer visitors. Our library is a friendly place to work, surrounded by the area’s natural beauty, and is the heart of our community.   

As a welcoming space and resource center, we offer free access to educational materials, promote literacy, and foster lifelong learning.

The ideal candidate should have the skills to supervise and motivate a small team of employees and volunteers, effectively collaborate with library board members, Ramapo Catskill Library System, and the public, and uphold library policies with professionalism and courtesy. 

A minimum of two years of college is required. Computer knowledge, experience with internet browsing and word processing software, and the ability to quickly master new technologies are also essential. The ideal candidate should desire to learn new skills and be interested in ongoing professional development. 

The Director works Tuesday through Saturday, totaling 30 hours per week. Attendance at the monthly evening board meetings is mandatory. The starting salary is $22 per hour, and benefits include two weeks of vacation/sick pay and paid holidays. 

Previous experience working in a library or writing grants is advantageous.
