Library Assistant - Floater/Substitute

The Clarence Dillon Public Library, located in Bedminster, NJ, is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic person to join our friendly and diverse staff as a Library Assistant - Floater/Substitute.  Many of our floaters eventually fill permanent slots. The ideal candidate must be available to work on nights and weekends. The salary is $16.00.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Enthusiasm and zest for libraries!

• Create a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment for all library visitors.  

• High school degree minimum, some college work preferred.

• Excellent customer service skills

• Good computer skills

• Ability to use the internet, email, MS Office, mobile devices, and databases

• Prior library experience is desirable

• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff members

• Flexibility 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Charge and discharge materials
• Issue library cards
• Reserve Items
• Handle patron account questions
• Empty book drop
• Collect fines.
• Assist library users with computers resources, copy machine, and scanner
• Assist patrons with finding materials in the library.
• Maintains a courteous attitude with patrons and colleagues
• Assist in library outreach programs
• Other duties as assigned.
