The St. Petersburg Library System is seeking candidates for multiple Librarian I positions. Each position is responsible for delivering library services and programs across divisions and locations. Work involves providing excellent library service and friendly customer service to staff and patrons of all ages, including circulation and reference services; materials selection and collection maintenance; technology assistance; providing community outreach; and guiding paraprofessional staff. This position will have oversight of library operations in the absence of a supervisor and must be able to take initiative to resolve problems. Selected candidates will be scheduled to work evenings and weekends on a rotating basis.

Education/Qualifications:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications.  Applicants must:

  • Have a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university or must obtain the Master's degree within six (6) months of appointment to the position.

  • Have the ability to travel between library facilities as needed.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have demonstrated professional public library experience
  • Have demonstrated library or general supervisory experience.
  • Have customer service experience.
