ABOUT THE POSITIONS

There are two (2) unlimited, full-time faculty librarian positions available. The Library has full-time needs in OER, instruction, and outreach as well as full-time needs in acquisitions and cataloging. All applicants invited to interview will provide a teaching demonstration as part of the interview.

The library’s needs in reference and instruction include providing high-quality course-integrated instruction tailored to the discipline, course, and assignment; providing high-quality reference and research assistance to a diverse population; and coordinating the library instruction and reference programs. The library’s OER needs include collaboratively coordinating, promoting, and assessing campus-wide textbook affordability initiatives—such as the AA in Liberal Education Z-degree—in partnership with faculty, administrators, and staff; guiding faculty in discovering, using, or creating OER for their courses. The library’s outreach needs include collaboratively planning and implementing campus-wide programs and events to promote library services and resources.

The library’s acquisitions and cataloging needs include establishing and directing workflows for print, electronic, and audiovisual materials; working with vendors to procure resources including negotiating contract terms; creating and implementing cataloging practices in keeping with evolving standards and best practices including creating local headings. Acquisitions and cataloging work is supported by one Acquisitions Specialist and one Cataloging Specialist.

Librarians work together to develop and execute library work plans, policies, and procedures. The successful candidates will be service-oriented, flexible problem-solvers with an understanding of how all areas of librarianship contribute to the success of students and faculty in teaching and learning.

The Library supports the college’s goal of achieving racial equity in educational outcomes and experiences. The individuals hired will be expected to engage in this work across the college, in the Library, and in the classroom (e.g., attend campus trainings, identify and work to resolve barriers or inequities in library services including reparative cataloging, employ culturally responsive teaching practices, etc.).
