Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Associate Librarian or his/her delegate, the candidate will work in the Learning Support team of the Library
  • Oversee the operation of the Learning Support team including usage statistics, reporting, staff supervision, training and budget management, etc.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, coordination, promotion, and evaluation of the library’s information literacy programs including orientations, workshops, cultural events and all other reference and instruction services in both online and in-person formats for students and faculties
  • Create and deliver digital learning objects, subject guides and other information literacy related web content through different online platforms
  • Serve as library liaison to work with faculties and library Collection Development team to build and manage library collection in different subject areas
  • Partner with faculties and other offices to embed library instruction and support into the curriculum as well as to foster collaboration between academics and the Library
  • Derive innovative measures to promote the information literacy programs, and related library services and facilities
  • Represent the Library in different committees and task forces both internally and externally
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s) and University Librarian
  • Shift duties in evenings, and on weekends and public holidays will be required

Salary and Fringe Benefits

The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, particularly in the Humanities, Business or Social sciences
  • A recognized professional qualification in Librarianship (MLS or equivalent)
  • At least 1-3 years of relevant post-qualification working experience in libraries, preferably in academic libraries
  • Sound knowledge of information literacy, current and emerging trends in reference services, research support, intellectual property and copyright issues
  • A good command of English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua
  • Ability to work well under pressure, independently and in teams
  • Candidates with prior working experience in reference and instructional services will have added advantages
