Are you a proactive, forward-thinking leader with a passion for ensuring smooth and efficient operations?  As a key member of our team, you will play an integral role in creating and implementing strategies that keep our facilities running at their best: well-maintained, safe, and ready for whatever comes next. If you're looking for a role where your foresight and attention to detail will be valued, we want to hear from you!

As the Facilities & Security Manager, you will lead a team that is focused on customer service in addition to their tasks in building services or security monitoring. The position will also be involved in budgeting, vendor management, and our capital improvement plan.

We are seeking a successful supervisor who thrives on planning ahead, anticipating needs, and maintaining a safe and optimized environment. If you are excited about this position but not sure if you meet all the criteria, we encourage you to still apply. You may have experience or skills that would still make you a great candidate.

Part of the total compensation package also includes paid time off benefits (i.e., paid holidays, vacation time, personal days, and sick leave), participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension plan, and the offering of a commuter transit benefit.

PURPOSE

Under the general guidance of the Finance Manager, the Facilities & Security Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating all activities associated with the physical, environmental, and security conditions of the library facilities. The facilities portion of the position includes general upkeep and maintenance of the buildings and grounds, furniture and equipment, building systems, library vehicles, and managing facility projects. The security portion of the position includes ongoing training of security staff, handling escalated security issues, and proactively identifying and addressing safety and security issues.  The position directly supervises Security staff and the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
