The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. As a member of the Collections and Content Department, the Electronic Resources and Discovery Librarian leads the development of the Kraemer Family Library's electronic resource collection by managing the lifecycle of electronic resources, including databases, e-journals, e-books, datasets, and streaming videos for the UCCS community. This position oversees access to electronic resources by managing the discovery service, Summon, and maintaining authentication services. Additionally, this position serves as a liaison to one or more academic programs for providing advanced research, instruction and collection support and provides general research assistance at the library assistance desk. This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment that requires scholarly activities such as research projects and publications in addition to providing service to the library, campus or profession. Essential Functions The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan and coordinate electronic resource lifecycle management efforts for databases, e-journals, e-books, datasets, and streaming video.
  • Tracks electronic resources in knowledge bases and other online library services platforms.
  • Leads the configuration of hosted electronic resource management systems and A-Z database list.
  • Takes the lead in reviewing license and business terms for electronic resources.
  • Oversees discovery service and discovery team.
  • Meets and works with electronic resource vendors and publishers to create and maintain effective, productive relationships and manage library accounts.
  • Communicates with vendors regarding renewals, cancellations, and updates.
  • Coordinates with partners (CLERT, Colorado Alliance, etc.) for consortia purchases and renewals. Attends regular meetings with consortia partners.
  • Responds to internal stakeholder questions about current electronic resource agreements.
  • Assists with electronic resource strategy.
  • Leads the monitoring and troubleshooting access issues for electronic resources and communicating with other library units regarding access issues as necessary.
  • Provide in person research services at the Library Assistance Desk.
  • Serve as liaison to one or more academic units, by providing library instruction, research assistance, and selection of materials for the library's collection.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school completed by position start date.
  • Experience or coursework in electronic resource management.
  • Experience in an academic library in any position is preferred (student employee, staff, practicum, etc.).
