Description

The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (FRBC) seeks a Data Librarian to work on a team responsible for ensuring researchers in the FRBC’s Research, Policy, and Public Engagement (RPPE) department have the necessary data and other information resources for their policy work and academic scholarship.

You will be reporting to the Research Library Manager. This job will be titled internally as Info Services Senior Analyst.

Your Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with other librarians on FRBC’s Knowledge Center team, you will assist with the execution of a data governance plan and implement best practices for data management. 
  • You will actively manage data on premises and in the cloud. This includes access control, process documentation, implementing and troubleshooting data automation processes, and data archiving. It may also include manipulating or cleaning datasets using scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • You will provide data reference services including answering researcher questions, data cataloging, updating and maintaining documentation, and communicating with data providers.
  • Create outreach and training opportunities to promote data services within RPPE. Help to facilitate data collaboration and educate researchers about data management practices.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of how local IT infrastructure and Bank and System policies impact access to data resources and collaborate on solutions that improve researchers’ productivity while maintaining adherence to policy and contractual constraints.


Requirements

Your Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in library/information science or a related degree
  • Working knowledge of programming languages and statistical tools (e.g., Python, R, Stata).
    Familiarity with Git.
  • Facility with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least three years of related experience working in a data-focused research environment.
