In this position, you are a storyteller, helping the library to share its vision, both internally and externally, in a variety of formats. Under the direction of the Communications Coordinator, you develop effective, creative communications. Through words and basic graphics, you infuse the spirit of IPPL in our print and online environments and promotions.

Here are some of the traits we’re looking for in a candidate:

  • You have a degree in communications, English, marketing, or related field.

  • You have two years relevant experience.

  • You are proficient in using computers and other devices, plus Word, basic Excel, and Outlook, graphic design software Adobe Suite or Publisher, and social media platforms. 

  • You are warm and friendly, and you just like helping people.

  • You can stay focused in a busy environment.

  • You are curious and can’t learn enough about all the library offers. 

  • You are passionate about sharing all the great things going on at the library.

  • You’re a great communicator, both verbally and in writing.

  • You are passionate about good grammar and a master at editing.

  • You are detail-oriented.

  • You’re interested in best practices in communications and follow emerging communication trends. 

  • You are a deadline-driven multi-tasker, ensuring your projects are accurate and timely.

  • You’re a thoughtful and collaborative team player.

  • You have a creative spark and enjoy sharing and shaping ideas with others.

  • You make smart, independent decisions, understanding the big picture and your place in it.

  • You show initiative whether working independently or with others.

  • You enjoy a good laugh.

This is a part-time position. The salary range is $23.44 - $28.13. Benefits include IMRF pension plan, 4 weeks vacation earned per year, 12 sick days earned per year, prorated. The position works 20-25 hours per week. Depending on the individual, there is potential to increase responsibilities and hours.
