  • Champlain College is seeking a responsible, committed individual to supervise library circulation services in the dynamic Champlain College Library. Reports to the Access Services Administrator, oversees the facility and circulation systems, carries out projects and supervises student employees.

Part-time (6 - 20 hours/week during the academic year)

Position works primarily during the academic year. Hours will be scheduled during the following times, with flexibility required:Sunday-Thursday evenings from 5 pm - 11 pm

  • Friday evenings 5 - 8 pm
  • Saturdays noon - 7 pm
  • Sunday afternoons noon- 5pmThis Spring Semester 2025, we are actively hiring for recurring hours on alternating Sundays (11:45AM - 5 PM) & Wednesdays (5 - 11 PM).

Job Duties:

  • Provide superior library circulation services to the Champlain College community.
  • Supervise library student workers.
  • Train student workers in library procedures, policies, customer service and software.
  • Oversee, as well as open and close, the Miller Information Commons facility, home to the library, computer lab, study rooms, conference rooms, offices, and classrooms.
  • Answer questions regarding circulation, the library and the College.
  • Troubleshoot technology-related issues.
  • Manage projects on an ongoing and regular basis. Projects include but are not limited to collection weeding, book shifting, inventory, creating forms, and shelf reading.
  • Add and edit library information in a dynamic wiki.
  • Enforce library policies for patrons and student workers.
  • Coordinate course reserves with faculty and process course reserves to ensure timely availability for patrons.
  • Create and facilitate a library environment that is welcoming and accessible to all, and accommodating to our diverse patrons and their needs.
  • Approach customer service through a lens of equity and justice, with respect for all backgrounds and identities. Train and mentor student employees in this approach.Job Requirements: Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Two to four years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Flexible schedule including night and weekend hours.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a busy environment.
  • Computer and technological proficiency.
  • Self-motivation to complete assigned and unassigned tasks.
  • Creative thinking in order to innovate library processes.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and passion for mentoring young adults with a variety of needs and backgrounds.Desired Qualifications:
  • Understanding of library workflows.
  • Familiarity with Champlain College's mission and vision.
  • Interest in working in an academic environment.
  • Experience working with young adults.
  • Knowledge of library e-resources including e-books, e-journals, and databases.Additional Information: The successful completion of a criminal background check is required as a condition of employment.
