Circulation Clerk

Position Summary: The Part-Time Library Clerk supports the daily operations of the library by providing excellent customer service, assisting with circulation tasks, and maintaining orderly library collections. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about fostering a welcoming library environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service:
  • Assist patrons with locating library materials and using resources.
  • Answer questions and provide information about library services and programs.
  • Handle patron inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
• Circulation Duties:
  • Check library materials in and out using the library’s integrated system.
  • Issue library cards and maintain accurate patron records.
  • Collect fines and fees when applicable.
• Collection Maintenance:
  • Shelve books and other materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform shelf reading to ensure correct material placement.
  • Assist with processing, repairing, and weeding library materials.
• Program and Event Support:
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of library events and programs.
  • Provide logistical support during events as needed.
• Technology Assistance:
  • Help patrons with basic computer tasks, including internet searches, printing, and accessing library databases.
  • Assist with troubleshooting library equipment such as printers, scanners, and public computers.
• Other Duties:
  • Maintain a clean and organized library environment.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as data entry and filing.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
