Part-time, M-F Business Hours, 20 hours

This position is responsible for copy cataloging of electronic books and loading MARC records into the library catalog. The qualified individual should have recent practical cataloging experience, be detail oriented, and possess decision making skills as well as the ability to work independently with limited oversight.

Duties include:

Performs copy cataloging of electronic books in OCLC Connexion using current national and local standards.

Reviews/assigns appropriate subject and name authority headings using Library of Congress Subject and Name Authority headings.

Reviews and applies appropriate Library of Congress Classification.

Loads and reviews ebook MARC records into Alma.

Assists in maintaining documentation of local cataloging policies.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or a combination of equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Recent experience applying AACR2/RDA and MARC 21 cataloging standards, Library of Congress Classification (LCCN), Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), and LC Subject and Name Authority records.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret MARC catalog records and policy and procedure manuals.
  • General knowledge of PC software and hardware, including Google applications such as Sheets and Gmail, and Microsoft applications such as Excel and Word.
  • Ability to operate in a network environment and use/access electronic resources.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Good communication and problem solving skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience with Integrated Library Systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with academic libraries and searching library resources.
  • Experience with Alma.
  • Experience with OCLC Connexion and MarcEdit.

Salary Range: $14- $16
