The University of Colorado Law School's William A. Wise Law Library seeks an Associate Director for Resource Access and Discovery. The Associate Director of Resource Access and Discovery provides leadership and supervision for the acquisitions & continuing resources, cataloging & metadata, and integrated library systems operations in the Law Library.  This role is pivotal in shaping services and collections for 21st-century learners, educators, and scholars, aligning with the law school's vision.  The Associate Director for Resource Access and Discovery is a 12-month faculty position at the Teaching Faculty level, reporting directly to the Law Library Director.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and oversee Resource Access and Discovery functions, including collection development, acquisitions, cataloging and metadata services, serials, digital collections, and e-resource management.
  • Set departmental goals, policies, procedures, and workflows and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of such services.
  • Direct and indirect supervision of the faculty librarians and staff in the Resource Access and Discovery department.
  • Assist the Director with personnel, strategic planning, budget, library systems, and administrative activities.
  • Compile and analyze statistics related to the library's collection content and financials for internal and external entities such as US News, ARL, and ALLStAR.
  • Advise the Director on physical plant needs and oversee stacks management projects.
  • Serve on committees at the Law Library, Law School, University, local, and national levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master of Library Science degree from ALA-accredited school.
  • Five years of professional library experience.
  • Two years of experience supervising library staff and/or librarians.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited school.
  • More than five years of professional law library experience.
  • Knowledge of library acquisitions and cataloging applications.
