Job Summary
Illinois State University’s Milner Library is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Education and Psychology Librarian for a tenure-track position. Reporting to the Head of Liaison Services in the Public Services unit, the Education and Psychology Librarian will serve as the library liaison to the departments of Educational Administration & Foundations and Special Education in the College of Education and the department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences, which offers curricular programs ranging from undergraduate through doctoral. The Education and Psychology Librarian will:
Design, plan, conduct, and assess library instruction while fostering and maintaining strong instructional ties with relevant areas
Participate in general and specialized reference and research services; also provide in-depth consultation with faculty and students in liaison departments
Oversee relevant classifications for education and psychology, including purchasing, deaccessioning, and budgetary management for the fund codes attached to that portion of the collection; collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Librarian on collections as appropriate
Act as the primary contact to the library for the administrators, faculty, staff, and students in liaison departments; provide proactive support for research and scholarly communication and communicate about library matters, resources, services, etc. Contribute scholarly and creative output and service sufficient for tenure/promotion
Develop and maintain digital learning objects for subject areas Incorporate emerging and current technologies into library practice
Demonstrate commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion
This is a twelve-month, tenure-track position. Milner Library faculty have responsibilities in the areas of librarianship (75%), scholarly and creative activities, and service (25%) as outlined in the Illinois State University Faculty Appointment, Salary, Promotion and Tenure Policies and Milner Library’s College and Department Faculty Status Committee’s Criteria for Evaluation, Promotion, and Tenure.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
The salary starts at $68,000 (minimum) and is commensurate with qualifications and experience, including 24 vacation days and 11 paid holidays per year.
Preferred Qualifications
An undergraduate and/or graduate level degree in PreK-12 education, education administration, special education, psychology, or related field
Professional experience as an education or social sciences liaison in an academic library and/or in general education, education administration, special education, or psychology
Experience supporting graduate student research, particularly at the doctoral level
Familiarity with tests and measures relevant to psychology and special education
Knowledge of emerging trends in education and psychology publications and practices

Required Qualifications
Advanced degree from an American Library Association-accredited program or an ALA-recognized international equivalent
Strong public services focus demonstrated through commitment to partnerships and collaborative work with relevant stakeholders
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong instructional skills in the classroom
Ability to foster research skills in others through reference and consultation
Experience or training in collection development
Ability to learn and adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methods, such as working with online and distance learners
