We're excited to share that the Plainfield Area Public Library has a job opening for an Adult Services Librarian with a focus on technology and teaching! In this role, you'll play a key part in our library's mission by offering engaging educational programs that cover the latest in tech trends, popular software, and creative maker tools for our community. What you might do in a typical day:

  • Answer reference, library equipment, and reader advisory questions during a four-hour desk shift. 
  • Meet with two other Adult Services department technology instructors to coordinate plans for the next quarter's technology classes.
  • Research and plan a presentation for an upcoming technology class.
  • Meet with a patron to provide one-on-one instruction.
  • Troubleshoot a 3D printing request from a patron.
  • Refine assigned collection areas by ordering new materials or weeding outdated titles.
  • Act as the Person In Charge.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • ALA/MLS degree
  • One year of experience and/or training in areas applicable to these responsibilities
  • Fantastic communication and customer service skills
  • Exemplary time management skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Attention to detail and organization
  • Curiosity and initiative to learn about emerging technologies 
  • Ability to work the second Saturday of every month and Wednesday and Thursday evenings

**This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Benefits include: **
