Description
Social Sciences Librarian
Indiana University Indianapolis University Library, https://library.indianapolis.iu.edu/, seeks a creative, collaborative librarian to join its Educational Services Unit to contribute to a robust instruction and liaison program. The Social Sciences Librarian will work closely with one other Business Librarian, as well as the faculty and administration of the Kelley School of Business and the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs to ensure that University Library is able to meet their research and instructional needs. We are seeking applicants who welcome a dynamic, collaborative, and inclusive environment, with a desire to impact student learning and faculty success. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position which includes expectations of professional development/creative activity, and service, with an anticipated start date of June 1, 2025.
The Social Sciences Librarian reports to the Associate Dean for Educational Services. The position will participate in the Educational Services Unit’s core functions of teaching, learning, outreach, engagement, and instructional assessment.
Responsibilities
Serve as liaison to the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
Serve as one of two liaisons to the Kelley School of Business primarily supporting first and second-year undergraduate students.
Create and maintain subject specific learning materials.
Provide and assess instructional services in assigned liaison areas with learning outcomes aligned with University Library information literacy learning outcomes and curriculum.
Provide research support to faculty and students in assigned liaison areas.
Adhere to IU Indianapolis University Library Liaison Guidelines, including instruction, research consultations, outreach & communication, scholarly communications (such as open access, promotion and tenure research metrics), and awareness and use of open educational resources.
Secondary Responsibilities
Participate in Educational Services Team meetings and activities.
Participate in meetings and taskforces related to Library Faculty Governance.
Provide support to Team colleagues when required.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Graduate degree from an ALA accredited program or an equivalent graduate library science/information studies degree.
Demonstrated interest in relevant disciplines.
Demonstrated interest in library instruction and assessment.
Understanding of information literacy concepts including the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy.
Ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment as well as independently.
Experience with or in an academic or research library.
Preferred Qualifications
Subject knowledge and experience supporting business disciplines.
Experience with the design of instructional materials, activities, and curricula.
Ability to contribute positively to a multicultural campus.
Demonstrated success working with diverse faculty and student populations.
Understanding of scholarly communication topics such as open access and research metrics.
Experience with providing library services and materials that support and develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved.
Experience serving diverse and underrepresented student populations.

Compensation and Application
Minimum salary is $58,000, with additional funding for professional development and travel. A start-up package includes $10,000 for moving and ongoing professional development expenses.
