Adult Services Librarian

Are you conscientious, customer service oriented with a commitment to public library service?    The Calumet City Public Library is looking for you to head our Adult Services Department  

Job Duties:

• Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Adult Services responding responsibly to patron 
• Develops and monitors the budget for Adult Services and Teen staff and supply/equipment expenditures.
• Develops, recommends and administers policies, procedures and processes in support of departmental operations in collaboration with staff and managers across departments.
• Initiates, plans, conducts and evaluates a variety of adult programs and activities to encourage the use of the library and its collections, including book discussions, author talks, art exhibitions, etc.
• Conducts all collection development activities for the library’s adult fiction, audio visual and teen collections including selecting print, nonprint and electronic materials for purchase, withdrawing materials and evaluating databases.
• Assumes some duties of the Library Director in the Director’s absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Masters in Library Science and 2 years progressively responsible experience
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Commitment to providing quality patron services.

Salary $55-60k depending on experience
