  1. The Adelphi University Libraries are seeking an Adjunct Librarian to assist in the daily operations of the Hauppauge Center Library. This position has a dual role, working at the Hauppauge Center Library supporting the needs of our Hauppauge Center students and faculty, and also serving in a wider capacity as a member of the Research & Instruction unit of the University Libraries. The incumbent will provide both remote and in-person assistance and Information Literacy Instruction.

The appointment will begin as soon as possible, with a weekly workload of up to 25 hours. The position will report to the Dean of Libraries, and work closely with the Librarian Chair, the Dean's administrative office, and other library departments. The exact weekly schedule will depend upon the needs of the Hauppauge Center* and instructional needs of Adelphi students and faculty, as determined by the Library Faculty Chair.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

**Oversee Day-to-Day Operations:**Responsible for the day-to-day operations and services at the Hauppauge Center Library. Create a welcoming environment for students and faculty to gather and make the library an exciting place to work or drop in for research assistance. 2. Work closely with the Hauppauge Center administration, faculty and staff. 3. Align in-person schedule with the class schedule of the Center.*Academic Outreach and Collaboration: 4. Communicate with and provide outreach to assigned academic departments. 5. Collaborate with colleagues from Garden City, Hudson Valley, and New York centers to further the educational mission of the Adelphi University Libraries.Research Support and Resources: 6. Provide in person and virtual Information Literacy Instruction. 7. Create online subject guides and other course-specific research resources for assigned subject areas. 8. Participate in the Libraries' chat reference service. 9. Conduct virtual and in-person research consultations for faculty and students. 10. Review requests for purchases and electronic subscriptions, sharing insights with the Collection Strategies Librarian.EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 11. Master's degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) or related degree from an ALA-accredited graduate program is required. 12. At least one year of information literacy teaching experience. 13. Strong management, technology, and organizational abilities. 14. Ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse population of faculty, students, and staff.HOURS: 15. The current anticipated in-person schedule for Hauppauge in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 is Monday and Wednesday from 3pm -10pm. These courses are dependent upon final registration. Remote work hours are flexible and will be determined by instructional requests and chat schedule. 16. Location: Hauppauge Center Library: 150 Motor Parkway, Hauppauge, NY 11788SALARY INFORMATION:In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $40 an hour.
