Youth Services Library Assistant

Job Summary

The Niles-Maine District Library is seeking two dedicated Part-Time Youth Services Library Assistants to support our vibrant youth programming. Under the direction of the Youth Services Supervisor, you will provide Reader's Advisory and Reference support at the Kid-Space and Teen Underground service desks.

**Available Schedules: **

1)Days + 5th Weekends: 

   Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

   5th Saturdays and 5th Sundays 12-5 p.m.

   Other hours as assigned

2)Weekends + One Weeknight: 

   Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

   Sundays 12-5 p.m.

   Weeknight TBD 5:30-8:30 p.m.  

   Other hours as assigned

The Youth Services Library Assistant will…

• Deliver friendly, patron-centered service to all users.

• Provide Reference and Readers' Advisory services for youth in-person and electronically.

• Monitor Kid-Space and Teen Underground areas for safety and appropriate behavior.

• Assist with planning and presenting story-times for young patrons and their families.

• Represent the Library at community events and attend relevant staff meetings.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experiences

• Experience working with children and teens

• Excellent customer service, communication and technology skills

• Ability to multi-task and be flexible in a busy environment

Starting Salary: $21.63
