The Linda Sokol Francis Brookfield Library, serving a community of nearly 20,000 and home to the world famous Brookfield Zoo, seeks its next Youth Services Assistant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides reference and readers’ advisory for books, media, and other resources for children ages 12 and younger.

  • Develops and facilitates classes and events for youth.

  • Participates in school and community outreach.

  • Participates in library special events.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidates Will:

  • Be comfortable working with children and their caregivers.

  • Have a flexible schedule with weeknight and weekend availability.

  • Enjoy creating and fostering connections with community members.

  • Have experience with or knowledge of library resources and services.

  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with current technology and willingness to learn more.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with youth preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills preferred.

Details:

This is a part-time (19 hours/week) position for $16-21 per hour (without MLIS) or $17-24 (with MLIS). This includes weekday, evening, and weekend hours. There are two assistant positions to be filled. Please send resume and cover letter to Carlee Landis at [email protected].
