Do you have a passion for programming? Are you awesome at outreach? Are you looking for a job that’s fun, full of variety, and lets you be creative? If this all sounds appealing, you just might be our next Program and Outreach Associate! 

In this position, you’ll be supporting the teams responsible for planning and presenting programs for youth, birth to 5th grade (with an emphasis on 0 to 5-year-olds) and supporting outreach staff at schools, parks, daycares, and other community partners. You’ll shake your sillies out with toddlers one day and run STEAM stations at a grade school the next. The successful candidate for this role will be someone curious, creative, flexible, organized, and collaborative. In this role, you’ll also get to: 

  • perform storytimes for our youngest patrons
  • create and present your own program ideas
  • help patrons at our service desk with questions and book recommendations
  • participate in robust staff development opportunities such as trainings and conferences
  • perform tasks to support the library collection, ensuring patrons can easily find the materials they want 
  • be a part of a dynamic, experienced team of youth services staff

**SCHEDULE: **(approximate average of 24 hours per week)

  • Tuesday 9am to 5pm
  • Thursday 9am to 5pm
  • Friday 11am to 7pm
  • Saturday 9am to 5pm, one in every four Saturdays

PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Department Head, the Youth Program and Outreach Associate supports programming and outreach efforts of the department by preparing and presenting programming, attending outreach events, and performing clerical and support tasks for departmental staff with programming and outreach responsibilities. May provide targeted programming and outreach services to specific groups as needed. This position provides public services at the Youth desk and performs collection development tasks.
